About Me
My name is Gillian and I have been making handmade sterling silver jewellery for 16 years from my home in Hampshire using traditional goldsmithing techniques. I mostly use recycled sterling silver and often embellish my designs with gold (recycled) and gemstones.
I love creating unique pieces with movement, which are both tactile and eye-catching. My designs often incorporate simple geometric shapes, with a twist and a turn! All jewellery comes gift wrapped in either a luxury gift box or satin pouch, along with a silver polishing cloth to keep it in tip top condition!
I have been registered with the London Assay office for 14 years and all of my work is marked with my Sponsor’s (Maker’s) Mark (GH as below) which is registered with them. As per the regulations, all items containing more than 7.78 grams of silver or 1g of gold will have been submitted to the Assay Office to be hallmarked with my Sponsor’s Mark as well as their own traditional marks as quality assurance.
More About Me!
I grew up in a creative family where the mantra was ‘you could make that!’ which fostered a curiosity in the making process from an early age.
My love of the creative process continued at school, discovering metalwork at Secondary school to being a Design and Technology subject leader in my career as a Primary School teacher for over 20 years. A role which allowed me to share the joy of creating with other teachers and pupils.
I have always been drawn to handmade, silver jewellery and would love to browse stalls and fairs for something different. My search for handmade jewellery coupled with my curiosity of the craftsmanship involved led me to a silver jewellery class in 2007 and I’ve been hooked ever since!
I soon learnt that there were many techniques and skills to be learnt and looked forward to my weekly classes and sharing ideas with like-minded students. Over the years, I have learnt under the guidance of a variety of tutors – from jewellers and silversmiths to master stone setters and polishers in a multitude of different workshops.
I am very excited to finally be opening my website as selling my jewellery is something I’ve aspired to since entering the workshop. I hope you love it as much as I do!
